I am a qualified Home Economist and have been baking specialty cakes since finishing university. I worked in the hospitality industry for 8 years after which I started baking full time. I have a home-based business situated in Bellville/ Tygervalley-area. My cakes have featured in the Rooi Rose, True Love Bride and Idees/ Ideas magazines and in “Die Burger” newspaper. I have also exhibited life size sugar flowers at the Grand Daddy Hotel for the ”Daddy Bloom Flower Festival.” My first book, “Katrien’s Cakes and Katrien se Koeke” was published in October 2011.
